The Ministry of Migration and International Protection of the Republic of Cyprus announced that starting from Monday, July 7, 2025, it will begin accepting applications for the EU Blue Card — a special residence and work permit for highly qualified professionals from non-EU countries.

This initiative aims to attract talented professionals to key sectors of the Cypriot economy, as well as to create more flexible and transparent conditions for the legal migration of skilled workers.

Who can apply for the Cyprus Blue Card?

The program is available to foreign professionals working in one of three priority sectors:

  • Information and communication technologies (ICT);
  • Pharmaceutical industry (in the field of scientific research);
  • Shipping (excluding captains and crew members).

The candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a high qualification and have relevant work experience in the above field;
  • Earn a salary of at least €3,636 per month (or €43,632 per year) gross;
  • Sign an employment contract with a Cypriot employer.

What are the benefits of the Blue Card in Cyprus?

  • Right to enter, re-enter, and legally reside in Cyprus;
  • Opportunity to work officially in your field of expertise;
  • Access to social security, public healthcare system (GeSY), and other services;
  • Family reunification — family members receive a residence permit for the same duration as the Blue Card holder;
  • Right to accumulate periods of residence in different EU countries – this can help in the future to obtain long-term EU resident status or citizenship.

Why Cyprus?

Cyprus is one of the few European islands that combines comfortable seaside living, EU membership, and a developed digital infrastructure. It is an ideal destination for IT professionals, researchers, and experts who want to work legally in the European Union and have a perspective for long-term residence.
