Obtaining Permanent Residency (PR) in Cyprus through an investment of €300,000 is one of the most in-demand investment immigration programs in Europe. It allows the entire family to obtain resident status without mandatory residence on the island.

In this case study, we explain how our team assisted a family from Portugal in obtaining Cyprus Permanent Residency by organizing the entire process remotely — from selecting the investment to submitting documents and receiving approval.

Thanks to a well-structured legal strategy and our experience working in Cyprus since 2007, the client needed only one short trip to Cyprus for the final procedures.

Client profile

The family (main applicant, spouse, and child) lived in Portugal and did not plan an immediate move to Cyprus but wanted to obtain permanent residence through investment. The main objectives of the client were to obtain Cyprus PR status for the entire family, diversify investments, and have a long-term immigration option in the EU. The Cyprus residence card is issued for 10 years with the possibility of renewal, while the status itself is permanent provided that the program requirements are maintained.

The clients approached us with the following tasks:

  • complete the entire process as remotely as possible;
  • minimize the number of trips to Cyprus;
  • carry out the investment with full legal due diligence;
  • prepare a correct package of documents without risk of refusal.

How we organized the Cyprus PR process remotely

1) Strategy and preliminary assessment

During the first consultation, we identified the optimal path for the client: the format of the investment (real estate/commercial property/company/fund), family composition, income requirements, risks related to documents and banking compliance.

Based on this analysis, an individual strategy for obtaining Cyprus Permanent Residency was developed, allowing the procedure to be completed as quickly as possible and without additional requests from immigration authorities.

2) Power of Attorney for a Cyprus lawyer

In order to ensure that the client did not need to be physically present in Cyprus at every stage, a Power of Attorney was issued to a Cyprus lawyer.

This allowed our legal team to:

  • represent the client’s interests in Cyprus
  • sign the necessary documents
  • support the investment transaction
  • submit the PR application package

Thanks to this, most procedures were completed entirely remotely.

3) Investment with legal protection

Before making the investment (purchasing real estate), full legal due diligence of the property was carried out.

Lawyers:

  • verified the investment property;
  • agreed on contract terms;
  • assessed legal risks;
  • prepared the payment structure.

All payments were structured to fully comply with the requirements of the immigration program.

4) Banking and compliance

We helped the client remotely prepare the documentation package required to open a bank account (KYC package). The origin of funds and the source of income were confirmed, and the structure of investment payments was agreed.

5) Preparation of the document package

Our team organized the preparation of the full document package: translations; notarizations; apostilles; completion of all immigration forms.

Cyprus immigration authorities impose strict requirements on documentation, including translations, certifications, and apostilles. A complete and properly prepared document package helps avoid resubmissions.

6) Submission through a lawyer

Our lawyer in Cyprus submitted the documents to the immigration department without the client’s personal presence. He monitored:

  • communication with immigration authorities;
  • possible document requests;
  • the application review status.

7) A short trip only for final formalities

After approval from the Cyprus Migration Department, a short trip to Cyprus was organized for the client. The trip was required only for the final procedures:

  • biometrics submission;
  • collection of residence cards.

The trip took minimal time and did not require relocation or long-term stay in Cyprus.

Result for the client

As a result of our team’s support, the family successfully obtained permanent residence in Cyprus through investment.

✅ The client completed the process of obtaining permanent PR remotely.

✅ The investment was carried out with full legal supervision — contracts, checks, and payments fully complied with the program requirements.

✅ The documents were prepared correctly — without resubmissions or delays caused by errors.

✅ The family obtained Cyprus Permanent Residency status (10-year card with renewal) and a detailed checklist on maintaining the status.

Why the PR process can be organized remotely

Obtaining Cyprus Permanent Residency through investment is primarily a legal procedure, most of which involves document preparation, banking verification, and submission to immigration authorities.

When the entire process — investment, legal support, and immigration submission — is handled by one team of specialists, the client does not need to personally participate in every stage.

This allows investors to complete the procedure in the most comfortable way possible, making only one short trip at the final stage to receive the residence card.

The client receives a complete turnkey solution with minimal time investment.
